The ARCS Motivational Model has four parts to it. I think it is hard for teachers to really capture the attention of kids in a classroom today. This is so due to technology and computers. Kids are more likely to want to play games or watch television than wanting to learn about history and the past. I think that if computers are brought into schools more, it might help to relate subject matter to students. I do believe that through computers, it will help teachers reach students with what they are learning and teaching. This will cause success in schools, which would be great. I think that teachers now are focusing on teaching for a certain test. Students are not retaining as much information due to these tests that are supposed to compare everyone together. So I do believe that teachers should have "performance indicators" as it says in the book. I think this would cause more competition between teachers and schools causing better teachers, and better grades.
A new skill that I have acquired since the last post would have to be to not procrastinate. I have not put anything off until the last minute. It causes less stress in your life, and I feel like I have a lot more free time now than before. This new skill also requires organization. So, all of my classes are organized into notebooks and binders, etc.
I really want to work with kids. I'm not positive with what age group yet, I'm looking more towards the pre-school level through second or third grade. I think kids are the most important thing and what they learn is important as well. Kids are our future, therefore how we let them end up is our own doing. Also I've always wanted to be a teacher since I was little, but I'm still looking towards the side of social work (more with children than adults).

I have wanted to teach too since I was a little kid! I totally agree with when you said that we shape the children of tomorrow.

I agree that it is very difficult to capture kids' attention today, due to medias such as television, computers, and video games. Kids don't want to look at chalkboards anymore, they want pictures and videos, and I agree that these will help children learn more and more easily as well.

I agree with the fact that teachers usually have to teach towards tests and kids dont stay attentive very well, like they would if they were using computers to learn. Also like you I was interested in social work at one time too.

Procrastination is a bad habit. It is very positive that you became aware of something that was negative and are able to turn it around.
